Parenting is a tough job, much harder than people realize before they have children. Parenting with a mental illness can make even good days seem hard. Raising children is an intense responsibility. Each age brings new challenges, from the baby stage to teenage years. Every parent feels like they’re screwing up at some point. If you have a mental illness, you may feel like you were never cut out to be a parent. You might even feel guilty that your kids were stuck with you. You love your kids so intensely, but you may feel that’s not enough. Anxiety and depression may rob you of the joys of parenting. You also may be afraid that you’ll pass your illness to them. You know how much you suffer and the last thing you want is for them to suffer that same way. This category offers support and encouragement to parents.
